The governor said New York governments are in dire need of at least $30 billion in federal aid over the next couple of years to bridge enormous budget gaps caused by the pandemic. Without federal assistance, Cuomo said the state will need to lay off hundreds of public employees, like cops, firefighters, teachers and healthcare workers.
