Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City is one of Colorado’s first mass COVID-19 vaccination sites. Its first weekend of operation had some hitches as long lines caused delays and frustration.

Those who signed up to receive a vaccine at the site were told to expect a 15- to 30-minute wait. However, some had to wait up to three hours.

Centura Health is in charge of the location.

“We experienced longer-than-expected wait times at the Dick’s Sporting Goods vaccine clinic on Sunday,” Centura Health said in a release. “Our partner, CovidCheck Colorado, was unable to secure enough staffing to meet escalating vaccine volumes. They have adjusted their resources and are working quickly to improve wait times. Centura is committed to honoring all vaccine appoints and will not turn anyone away who scheduled a time to receive their first dose.”

The delay was caused by a scheduling error.

Everyone scheduled for a shot on Sunday received one, according to Centura.
