According to the end-of-day totals from California public health websites for Tuesday, March 23, there 2,987 people in hospitals with coronavirus-related infections, an 86.9% decline from the Jan. 5 high of 22,843.

The percentage of California’s population that has been fully vaccinated is 13.4% with 15.2 million vaccinations administered and 5.4 million people fully vaccinated as of Tuesday.

There were 2,539 new cases of the coronavirus reported statewide, bringing the total number of cases there have been to 3,623,119.

The 14-day average of new cases daily is 2,824.

There were 198 new deaths reported Tuesday, for a total of 57,409 people in California who have died from the virus.
