San Francisco confirmed 24 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, bringing the city’s total to 108, according to public health officials.
The newly confirmed cases mark the city’s largest overnight jump, with a 29% spike from Saturday to Sunday morning.
Officials expect this number to keep rising as testing becomes more widely available. They have also cautioned that the expected increase in cases over the coming weeks will not mean the shelter-in-place mandate is not working.
San Francisco now joins Santa Clara and San Mateo counties with cases in the triple-digits. San Mateo County has confirmed 117 cases, while Santa Clara County has reached 263.
San Francisco has not reported any coronavirus-related deaths. Santa Clara has reported eight, while San Mateo and Contra Costa counties have each recorded one.
