The number of Contra Costa County residents who are confirmed to have the COVID-19 coronavirus continued to increase as health officials shared new numbers.
In an update early Tuesday afternoon, the Alameda County Public Health Department said 86 residents have tested positive for the virus. Officials had said 71 residents tested positive as of Monday.
The county had counted 61 cases on Sunday, and 51 on Saturday. Health officials logged the county’s first case March 4 and sole death March 20.
Health officials from seven Bay Area counties released an order March 17 requiring residents to shelter-in-place at residences unless seeking or providing essential services for at least three weeks.
