Coronavirus: Alameda testing center reopens after temporary
shutdown 1

ALAMEDA — The city’s first testing site for COVID-19, which opened Wednesday and was temporarily shut down over insurance issues, has reopened.

But it was not immediately clear whether the site was open for all seeking a test or just those who had made an appointment.

CityHealth Urgent Care opened the site Wednesday in a partnership with the city at The Research Park at Marina Village, and tested and provided results to more than 1,000 people on its first day.

“Simultaneously, there was an unanticipated and unfortunate issue with liability insurance coverage,” the city announced late Wednesday. “To allow for the site to be reconfigured to ensure safe and efficient testing and to address insurance issues, the new facility is temporarily pausing operations.”

Information about testing in Alameda is posted at www.alamedaca.gov/covidtesting.
