The Colorado Rapids on Sunday announced the club was delaying its departure to Orlando, Florida, after learning two members of its traveling party had presumptive positive tests for COVID-19.
The Rapids are set to compete in the MLS is Back tournament in Orlando this month, which would make them the first Colorado pro sports team to resume play since the coronavirus pandemic began.
The Rapids delayed their trip until Tuesday, July 7, “out of an abundance of caution,” the team said in a news release, as they await final lab results.
Colorado is set to take on Rocky Mountain rivals Real Salt Lake in their first match of the World Cup-style tournament on July 12 at 8:30 p.m.
