A civilian employee of the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault.
Caleb May, 19, was arrested Thursday after a juvenile female, who was an acquaintance of the suspect, reported Wednesday that she had been sexually assaulted, according to a news release. The alleged assault occurred Monday.
May works as a community services specialist, responsible for taking reports relating to low priority calls with no suspect information. The CSS staffers have “no powers of enforcement,” according to the release. May is a former Explorer program member of the sheriff’s office.
At the time of the alleged incident, May was wearing sheriff’s office attire and he was driving a sheriff’s office vehicle when he arrived at the location, the release said. He has made an initial court appearance and his bond was set at $65,000. He is on unpaid administrative leave pending an internal investigation and the criminal case.
