Jeffon Williams, 19, was arrested immediately after the 2:30 a.m. traffic stop, during which time he allegedly exchanged gunfire with officers, according to authorities. Two male officers were wounded and Williams “suffered gunshot wounds to the body during this incident and was placed into custody,” according to a statement from police. Williams was charged in connection with the shooting in the 3300 block of West Polk Street in Homan Square, said Chief of Detectives Brendan Deenihan, in a news conference Monday morning.
