Avalanche captain Gabe Landeskog on Thursday was added to the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol absence list, joining teammate Tyson Jost. Both will presumably be unavailable to travel with the team or play in this weekend’s consecutive-game stretch at St. Louis.
The Avs did not practice Thursday in place of playing the Minnesota Wild at Ball Arena. The game was postponed Wednesday after Jost and five additional Wild players were added to the COVID-19 protocol absence list. A sixth Minnesota player, Nico Sturm, joined the list Thursday with Landeskog, and the Wild now has seven players unavailable. Team headquarters have been closed and all games postponed until at least Tuesday.
The protocol absence list can be a result of a positive test, an unconfirmed positive test or contact tracing.
Landeskog was among four Avalanche players added to the list to begin training camp, and he missed the first three days of on-ice activity.
