When I left the ballet world, I was an adult with only a high school diploma. All I was sure of was that I wanted a hands-on job helping people, and clearly I was good at being on my feet. As a dancer I was trained to be precise, detail-oriented, with a strong work ethic — all which would prove to be great preparation for nursing. I moved back home to New York City, was promptly accepted into nursing school, and began my classes last fall.
