Lovell, 46, joined the force in 2002 and was promoted to sergeant in July 2011 and lieutenant in July 2017, according to the Oregonian. He’s also worked as a school resource officer at a local high school, a mentor in a “Boys to Men” program and serves on the board of Lines for Life, a crisis call center.
