Body-camera video captured a Lodi police officer’s dramatic rescue of a man in a wheelchair on the railroad tracks.

Officer Erika Urrea was driving at 8:44 a.m. Wednesday on Lodi Avenue parallel to the railroad tracks when she saw a man in a wheelchair that was apparently stuck on the crossing. Then the bells started ringing and the crossing arms started to come down.

She jumped from her car, ran to the tracks and tugged at the man, telling him urgently, “Can you get up? Come on, get up, get up, get up!”

Just before the train reached them, its horn blaring, she pulled him from the wheelchair. They both fell back — clear of the tracks by inches.

The 66-year old man suffered a leg injury. He was treated by another officer who arrived shortly afterward and then taken to a hospital.
