Two officers and one suspect were injured following a standoff and shootout in Aurora on Tuesday night.

According to the Aurora Police Department, they learned a man they were looking for, accused of homicide, was staying at Wolf’s Motor Inn on East Colfax Avenue.

Police arrived at 7:15 p.m. They say they attempted to talk to the suspect into surrendering peacefully. Authorities report that he refused to cooperate with crisis negotiators.

Police learned a woman was also barricaded in the room, and around 10:04 p.m., an officer heard a gunshot coming from the room.

SWAT officers forced themselves into the room when more shots were fired, and the suspect was struck, police say. They did not clarify who fired the shots or if officers were hit.

The suspect was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, while two SWAT officers who entered the room also received care for minor injuries.
