Demonstrators marched peacefully through capital Port Louis holding signs that read “You have no shame” and “I’ve seen better Cabinets at IKEA” after about 1,000 tons of oil spilled from the grounded Japanese ship, MV Wakashio and into a protected wetlands area starting Aug. 6 after having struck a coral reef offshore on July 25, The Associated Press reports. A small island that served as a sanctuary for birds and wildlife was also affected.
