The president’s communications staff didn’t respond to the criticism, but on Monday the White House issued a blueprint to increase testing in the country with new targets that would ensure states had enough COVID-19 tests. A day later, Pritzker said he talked with White House officials and had been promised 20,000 testing swabs per day in May, which would be on top of the 12,000 tests the state is already conducting daily, he said.
