In a statement issued by the Wilson campaign, Blagojevich slammed Durbin saying, “We need a senator with new, bold and fresh ideas. A senator that will listen to the people and not party bosses. Sen. Durbin over 37 years in office has forgotten about the people that sent him to Washington.” Blagojevich, in a statement, described Wilson as someone who, outside of any government role, is a true public servant, using his wealth “to help seniors, children, people losing their homes because of high property taxes, and those who could not afford to post bail for misdemeanor offenses.”
