Meantime, President Joe Biden announced this morning he’s nominating former assistant federal defender Candace Jackson-Akiwumi to Chicago’s federal appellate court, the Tribune’s Jason Meisner reports. If confirmed by the U.S. Senate, she would be the only Black woman on the 7th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals.
