South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster has COVID-19, his office announced Tuesday.

McMaster, 73, is quarantining after “experiencing mild symptoms with a cough and slight fatigue,” his office said.

His wife, 73, Peggy, tested positive Thursday and remains asymptomatic, according to McMaster’s office.

The McMasters will each isolate for 10 days and “remain in good spirits,” his office said.

“Peggy and I urge everyone to be extra careful during the Christmas holiday season,” Gov. McMaster said in a statement. “This virus spreads very easily.
