Days earlier, another New York man was charged with a hate crime after police said he spewed racist insults at an Asian woman and stole her cellphone on a subway platform in Brooklyn. Police said the suspect yelled, “Go back to China” and “You are dirty, get your temperature checked,” before he tried to punch the 26-year-old woman.
