SANTA CLARA — Anticipating a steady rise in COVID-19 cases, Santa Clara County officials are preparing to set up a temporary federal medical station at the Santa Clara Convention Center.

The center would have beds, supplies, and medicine for short-term care and will be able to accommodate 250 patients, a news release says.

They are overseen by the United States Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response’s Division of Strategic National Stockpile. Santa Clara County is up to 263 confirmed cases of coronavirus as of Saturday afternoon, an increase of 67 from Friday. There have been eight confirmed coronavirus-related deaths throughout the county.
