A San Jose police officer is expected to recover after being hit by a vehicle early Friday, police said.

The officer was outside his patrol car just before 12:40 a.m. when the crash happened, according posts on social media by San Jose police. The officer was near the intersection of Suncrest Avenue and Perie Lane.
Police said they took one person into custody but provided no other information.
The injuries to the officer were not life-threatening, police said.
