The Ukraine-born Parnas and Belarus-born Fruman are charged with using a shell company to make an illegal $325,000 donation to a pro-Trump re-election committee. The scheme overlaps with with allegations at the center of the impeachment of Trump for withholding military aid to Ukraine until it launched investigations into Trump’s political rival, former Vice President Joe Biden. The Senate acquitted Trump of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress in February.
