The NFL is levying a heavy punishment on the Las Vegas Raiders for again violating the league’s coronavirus protocols.

The Raiders were docked $500,000 and a sixth-round draft pick and coach Jon Gruden also will be fined $150,000 for violations related to offensive tackle Trent Brown’s positive test last month, according to multiple reports.

The Raiders become the first team to lose a draft pick for non-compliance because this is the fourth time the organization has been fined for violating the league’s protocols for COVID-19.

Gruden also was fined $100,000 for violating the NFL’s mask mandate after a Week 2 win. The team also was fined $250,000 for the violation as well as being fined $50,000 for having an unauthorized person in its locker room after the game.

The 27-year-old Brown was again placed on the team’s reserve/COVID-19 list for the second time on Thursday because of lingering issues with the virus. He is not expected to play Sunday against the Chargers. He also missed last week’s game because a botched pregame intravenous injection put air into his bloodstream.
