OAKLAND — A robbery at a marijuana business in East Oakland Tuesday night led to injuries to multiple police officers and a person being shot by police, authorities said.
The condition of the person shot has not been released and police have not provided any more information about the person, including age or gender.
Authorities said at least two officers sustained injuries that required hospitalization, but their conditions were not known.
The shooting happened at about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday in the 1400 block of 92nd Avenue.
In a news release, police said “Officers were investigating the report of an in-progress robbery of a marijuana grow. When officers attempted to detain individuals, multiple officers were injured and an officer-involved shooting occurred.”
Police would not immediately confirm reports that the officers injured were hit by a vehicle and that it was the driver who was shot.
There were several robberies or attempted robberies of marijuana businesses Tuesday night committed by roving car caravans of suspects, authorities said.
In one of them, two security guards, one 52 and the other 40, were shot at about 11:11 p.m. Tuesday during an attempted robbery at a marijuana business in the 8400 block of Baldwin Street, authorities said. Their conditions were not available. No arrests have been made in that case.
