“One time he arrived with blood on his face,” said Arielle Maldonado, founder of the The Healing Corner, a nonprofit organization that provides resources primarily in West Side neighborhoods. “I said, ‘Oh my God, Don, what happened?’ He had fallen. We were able to help him out and we always tried to get him rides home. But he always found a way to be there.”
