North Korea’s Kim Jong Un has called for stricter COVID-19 precautions — despite the country’s claims they have yet to detect a single case.

The Hermit Kingdom despot “stressed the need to keep a high alert” for any outbreaks at a meeting Sunday of the politburo of the ruling Workers Party, state news agency KCNA reported

He also instructed officials to “further intensify the anti-epidemic work, being aware of the important responsibility for the security of the state and the well-being of the people,” the report said.

North Korea has been adamant that there have been no confirmed virus cases, though experts outside of the country have been skeptical of that claim — noting that it shares borders with China, the original source of the outbreak.

Kim’s meeting on Sunday marked his first appearance in 25 days — when he went to a cemetery in the South Pyongyang Province to pay tribute to Chinese soldiers from the Korean War.

The leader has been seen in public only a handful of times this year, which sparked rumors back in the spring that he was either dead, in a coma or recovering from a botched heart operation.
