A new coronavirus testing site will open next week in Alameda.
The new CityHealth Urgent Care testing site will provide free COVID-19 nasal swab tests without an appointment for anyone with proof of insurance, and all insurance plans are accepted.
From Wednesday, July 22 to September 22, the testing site located in The Research Park at Marina Village (300 Wind River Way) will be open seven days a week, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and will test up to 500 people per day. Results will be returned within 15 minutes.
For those without insurance, CityHealth has partnered with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to cover the cost of COVID-19 testing. Those requiring free testing must bring valid United States I.D.
“We’re seeing many positive cases that are asymptomatic, meaning they have COVID-19 but don’t show any symptoms, so they’re not self-isolating,” said CityHealth UrgentCare CEO Sean Parkin. “Even if you feel fine, it’s important to get tested. You may be spreading the virus without knowing.”
CityHealth currently has testing sites open at its San Leandro and Oakland Urgent Care locations. For those self-isolating or unable to see a doctor, CityHealth also offers virtual visits and a mail-in coronavirus test.
