According to the CDC, for example, as of May 20, black people account for 22% of COVID-19 deaths in the U.S., while they make up only about 12% of the populations. Native Americans in New Mexico account for about half or the state’s coronavirus-related deaths, but they represent 11% of the total population. In New York City the Hispanic community makes up 34% of all fatalities — the largest of any ethnicity — while representing 29% of the total population.
