City council member Susan Tjarks from Mitchell, South Dakota, says her community’s struggle with the coronavirus led her to push for a mask mandate. Tjarks said the issue of requiring a mask was the most divisive she’s seen on the council, but since the mandate was put in place, Covid-19 cases in her town have fallen drastically.
