The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office in Florida said on Wednesday that they have deployed dive team members as they continue to search for Brian Laundrie, the fiancé of Gabby Petito, at the Carlton Reserve.
“We continue to respond to requests for mutual aid from neighboring law enforcement agencies & federal partners. To confirm, yes, members of our Sheriff’s Underwater Recovery Force have responded to Carlton Reserve. This in addition to our Emergency Response Team, Air-1 & patrol,” the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a tweet.
“SURF Team members are divers called upon to search bodies of water for evidence. These highly-trained deputies work in the most difficult and challenging environments imaginable. They are on call 24/7/365,” the office said in a subsequent tweet.

In a video posted to Twitter by Kim Kuizon of WTVT in Florida, police can be seen towing in a boat that will be used by the sheriff’s Underwater Recovery Force.
The announcement by the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office comes as authorities continue to search for Laundrie, who was reported missing by his parents last week. Laundrie’s family told authorities that they believed he was at the Carlton Reserve.
Laundrie was named a person of interest in the disappearance of Petito, 22, last week. The couple had been on a cross-country road trip prior to Petito being reported missing.
The FBI in Denver confirmed on Tuesday that a body found near Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park was Petito’s.
This is a breaking news story and will be updated when more information becomes available.
