Dog Tests Positive for COVID-19 and marks the 1st case of human-to-canine infection 1

A Pomeranian dog’s owner who was infected with the coronavirus has passed a “low-level infection” to the dog.

The dog tested a “weak positive” for COVID-19 on February 28th. Initially scientists were unsure whether the dog was really infected or only picked up traces from some contaminated surface.

The dog was studied further while under quarantine by experts at the University of Hong Kong, the world Organizatino for Animal Health, and City University. All experts agreed the dog indeed had a low-level infection.

This is most likely the 1st documented case of human-to-animal transmission of COVID-19

Experts say however, that the public should not be worried about getting infected with coronavirus from their pets.
