Shelun Tsai and Michael Sun’s “happily ever after” began in the pregnancy ward.

The two Duke University Hospital doctors hadn’t planned it this way, but when the coronavirus outbreak was imminent, they realized their marriage celebration would have to be put on hold, Fox8 reported.

So, on the date of their originally planned nuptials, Tsai, an ob-gyn resident, invited her fiancé, a resident in psychiatry, to the Duke Birthing Center. They were witnessed by many of their colleagues, as well as friends and family who dialed-in via Zoom to watch the couple exchange their vows.

Their impromptu ceremony was complete with a tissue-paper bouquet, a pair of bridesmaids in scrubs and a “Just Married” cart for the lovers to make a brief getaway — before getting back to saving lives.

The bride and groom wore scrubs and masks.

Followers of Duke Medicine on Facebook were thrilled for the couple, congratulating them on keeping spirits high and love in the air while US hospitals become inundated with cases of the coronavirus.
