COVID-19 outbreak confirmed at Amazon distribution center in
Aurora 1

Nine workers at an Amazon distribution facility in Aurora have tested positive for the new coronavirus, one of 225 active outbreaks in Colorado senior care facilities, factories, prisons and workplaces.

There have been 7,765 positive COVID-19 cases linked to the outbreaks and 783 total deaths, according to the latest data from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

While 225 outbreaks remain active, 45 have been resolved, meaning the state believes the virus is no longer spreading in that particular setting.

The cases at Amazon’s facility are the latest to hit the e-commerce giant. There have been scores of outbreaks across the country, including at facilities in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Wisconsin.

Earlier this month, Jana Jumpp, an Indiana Amazon employee, calculated at least 125 company facilities have seen outbreaks And an estimated 900 of the company’s 400,000 blue-collar workers have had the disease, according to the New York Times.

Most of Colorado’s outbreaks have occurred at senior living facilities and other long-term care centers, though some of the most serious ones have come inside jails, prisons and factories.
