Coronavirus-induced RTD service reductions start
Sunday 1

Every bus and rail line except for train service to Denver International Airport will see drastically reduced service starting Sunday, as the Regional Transportation District adjusts to a coronavirus pandemic that has gutted its ridership.

RTD’s board of directors voted in favor of the COVID-19 service plan late last month, but it took several weeks to make the necessary changes and adjustments to employee schedules to put the plan into effect.

RTD’s new COVID-19 schedule impacts just about every rail and bus line the agency operates.

All bus and light rail lines will be reduced to a weekend schedule while the G-Line to Arvada and Wheat Ridge will drop from 15-minute frequencies during the day to 30-minute frequencies. The B-Line to Westminster will run every hour instead of every half hour.

The changes are scheduled to last until Sept. 20 though an RTD spokeswoman said a more robust schedule is waiting to go operational should the situation with the pandemic improve before fall. RTD is seeing around 120,000 boardings per weekday, down from nearly 400,000 before coronavirus hit in March.
