About 37,000 kindergarten through fifth grade students opted in for in-person learning, a second wave that is more than five times bigger than the first, in which only about 5,000 students in prekindergarten and special education cluster programs returned in February. About 18,500 students from sixth through eight grade are expected in a third wave March 8.
