Oxley noted that, at the moment, officials have only been encouraging the public to call 911 if they have a high fever or shortness of breath, in order to lessen the strain on the health-care system. However, he stressed, if someone experiences the symptoms of a stroke — a drooping face, arm weakness, or difficulty speaking — they shouldn’t hesitate to call an ambulance.
