Company falsely claims its CBD oil can help fight coronavirus, state AG says 1

New York Attorney General Letitia James has sent a letter to a CBD oil company demanding that it stop advertising that its products can help fight coronavirus.

James’ office sent the cease-and-desist letter to Utah company Finest Herbalist for advertising in emails, text messages and on bogus news sites that its Pure Herbal Total Defense Immunity Blend offers protection from COVID-19.

There is still no known vaccine for coronavirus.

“By misrepresenting the effectiveness of products against COVID-19, companies like Finest Herbalist are giving consumers a false sense of security, putting their very lives at risk,” James said in a prepared statement. “Deceptive marketing is never acceptable, especially during a time of crisis; this is a matter of public health and safety.”

Finest Herbalist did not immediately return a request for comment.

James has issued similar letters to companies that claimed their air purifiers fight against coronavirus.
