Collins: Schiff missed coronavirus signs because he was distracted by impeachment 1

Rep. Adam Schiff

Rep. Doug Collins, R-Ga., says now isn’t the time for a 9/11 style commission to investigate President Trump’s actions regarding to coronavirus pandemic, as Rep. Adam Schiff, C-Calif., is demanding.

And that’s at least partly because he doesn’t think Schiff will like hearing about just what was going on.

Schiff was one of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s key henchman in her political impeachment of President Trump just months ago. The Senate acquitted the president of all charges.

But Schiff, and others, led weeks and weeks of hearings in the House in which they chose which witnesses could speak, and sometimes even what those witnesses could say. The result was only Democrats voting for impeachment articles against the president, which quickly were rejected by senators.

Not only will there be time enough to examine the scenario when the health crisis is over, Collins said during an appearance on “Fox & Friends,” he said he doesn’t expect Schiff will like what’s uncovered.

According to Fox, Collins said, “But also, I think there’s going to actually be a look back here that I’m not sure Adam Schiff wants to talk about, and that is China’s role in this and the fact that, as Intelligence Committee chairman, he was so wrapped up in impeachment during when all this hit that I’m not sure there was a slow response on both sides because no one was looking at this.”

He continued, “Because he was so focused on the president and what he was trying to do in the election that we were missing, basically, China’s role and others. I’m not sure he would like the outcome of this report any more than he did any of the other reports that he had this past year,” he remarked.

Collins’ mention of other reports likely referred to the conclusion from FBI special counsel Robert Mueller, who spent years and millions of dollars checking Democrat claims of Trump 2016 campaign “collusion” with Russia, and found nothing there.

Meanwhile, other reports including those from a government inspector general found that Democrats under the Obama administration had misused the procedures allowed under the FISA law to target and spy on the Trump campaign.

A special investigation is going on now into whether those actions rose to the level of criminal activity.

Schiff had revealed this week he’s already trying to direct what he wants investigated.

“After Pearl Harbor and 9/11, we looked at what went wrong to learn from our mistakes. Once we’ve recovered, we need a nonpartisan commission to review our response and how we can better prepare for the next pandemic. I’m working on a bill to do that,” he said on social media.

Fox reported, “Collins said Schiff just couldn’t help himself because he is obsessed with tearing down President Trump.”

“Even in isolation, it sounds like all he wants to do is focus on the president,” Collins said. “The president has done a good job as he is focused on this. We have all learned from this crisis as it goes on, and the president has been listening to the advisors and moving forward.”

He charged, “But, there can be no mistake that in the [months] of January and December when Adam Schiff was leading this country down a sham impeachment that there was [a] distraction on Capitol Hill.”

The Hill reported Schiff revealed no specifics about his plan.

The Daily News commented: “Love him or hate him, you gotta admit Rep. Adam Schiff likes a good investigation, even before it starts.”
