According to police, the man, since identified as Jacob Blake, 29, was shot near a home located at 40th and 28th streets in Kenosha shortly after 5 p.m. The officers on scene were responding to a domestic call at that location.
Jacob Blake, the man shot by police in Kenosha, Wisc., has a history of assaulting police. He also has past charges for domestic abuse & a sex crime. There’s a warrent for his arrest. BLM rioters are currently destroying the city to avenge the shooting. https://t.co/BErLeJdPwj pic.twitter.com/JhHcbis5kf

A witness filmed only part of the encounter between police and Blake on his cell phone. The video was then uploaded to social media prompting community protests and widespread anger. Raysean White, 22, who filmed the video told NBC News that the incident first caught his attention when he heard a group of women arguing across the street from his apartment.
Hey @JoeBiden Yesterday, Jacob Blake put his childrens lives in clear and present danger by not following LEO direction and by being assaultive. It is clear you do not stand with We the People who not only expect but DEMAND Law and Order. Sit your arrogant a$$ down. https://t.co/Dd7Tb9JPGy

White said in a statement:
“Then the guy that got shot showed up. He pulled up in his truck, got out his truck, seen him walk up. His son was running towards him. He was picking up his son. He told his son to get in the gray truck, we about to go.”
White did not video record that part. He began recording when he looked back out the window and saw that the police had arrived. The video shows two police officers, with their weapons drawn, following Black around a gray SUV as he was making his way to the driver’s side door.
White said:
“They were also yelling ‘drop the knife.’”
The video shows that Blake disregarded the officers’s verbal commands, as he kept walking further until he actually reached the driver’s side door. Blake continued to disregard the officer’s verbal commands as he opened the door of the SUV and leaned inside. Again, officers told him to stop what he was doing.
As soon as Blake reached inside of the SUV, the officer directly behind him discharged his weapon. The video shows that the officer fired seven shots. Police pulled Blake to the sidewalk and immediately began rendering First Aid.
Blake was airlifted to a nearby hospital where he underwent surgery and remains in stable condition. White immediately shared his video on social media. Almost immediately, an angry crowd gathered around the shooting scene and violent protesters started lighting fires in the street as well as attacking police vehicles.
According to reports, the civil unrest continued through the night forcing the county to declare a state of emergency in order to enact a curfew. Kenosha News reported that within hours of the officer-involved shooting, a different law enforcement officer was reportedly hit with a brick during the unrest.

Video from the scene shows the officer walking next to a police vehicle when the officer suddenly fell to the ground. Multiple officers moved quickly to render aid to the downed officer. Shouts of, “Officer down!” were heard on the police scanner.
Authorities reported that hundreds of demonstrators have taken to the streets where people have been throwing rocks and bricks at law enforcement officers. In addition, at least one molotov cocktail was thrown and on police vehicle was “stomped” and had to be towed away.
Windows of other police vehicles were smashed and there were reports that an armored Bearcat was damaged by protesters. Rioters took to other parts of Kenosha and targeted a Boot Mobile store as well as a car dealership.

The parking lot that is usually full of a wide selection of cars was instead filled with rows of the vehicles’ metal remains. Prior to the overnight destruction, the dealership had more than 140 vehicles for sale.

Here is another article from Law Enforcement Today about an officer-involved shooting of an armed suspect:
PHOENIX, AZ – The Phoenix Police Department recently released the body cam footage from the officer involved shooting back in June where a female officer non-fatally shot a suspect who was chasing her with a knife.
Accompanied with the released footage was a press release affording further details on the incident that took place on June 14th.
Phoenix PD identified the suspect involved in the case as 55-year-old Jon David Brouseau.
[embedded content]In the newly released footage of the incident that Law Enforcement Today reported on back in June, Phoenix PD shared the playback the 911 call originally received that led to the officer being dispatched. On the call, a female caller reports that there is a man inside of the Asiana Market threatening people while armed with a knife.
That is when the lone female officer responded to the area and confronted Brouseau.
During the video, you can see from the officer’s perspective that Brouseau is continuously disregarding orders to drop the knife – and Brouseau even goes as far as to threaten to cut her throat and begins to run toward the officer.
The officer fires a single shot, causing Brouseau to go to the ground. Additional units were said to have responded to the scene and were able to detain Brouseau and get him medical attention.
According to police, Brouseau is expected to survive the injury sustained during the encounter and will be charged with aggravated assault for the incident.
As of this time, the officer involved in the shooting has not been named. Phoenix PD noted that the department will not comment on whether the shooting enacted by the officer was either good or bad until a complete investigation has occurred.
As mentioned earlier, Law Enforcement Today reported on this incident as it was developing – and even obtained video footage not shown in the Phoenix Police press release. Here’s the original report we brought you days after the encounter this officer had with Brouseau.

Video evidence has surfaced regarding an officer involved shooting that took place in Phoenix, Arizona where an allegedly armed suspect threatens a female police officer with a knife repeatedly. The suspect gets shot after rushing the officer.

This is what I would justify as a legitimate officer shooting. Very tragic but she made the decision that was necessary. https://t.co/orHWrO4Q4j— CognitivelyDisgusted (@scienzagal) June 17, 2020
The shooting was said to have taken place on 43rd Avenue and Union Hills in Phoenix’s northern portion of the city, at approximately 7:45 p.m. on June 14th.
Police were alerted about a male suspect that was armed with a knife threatening to kill people outside of the Asiana Market.
One officer responded to the call, where she confronted the armed man. Video was captured by a nearby witness who was inside of their vehicle.

During the confrontation between the lone officer and the suspect, you can hear the suspect repeatedly threatening the officer with the knife. While the officer is issuing verbal commands for the suspect the drop the knife, the man can be heard saying:
“Shoot me. I will kill you. I’ll kill you, you stupid little bitch – I will fucking slice your fucking throat.”
While ignoring the numerous commands issued by the officer present, the suspect continues to try closing the physical gap between himself and the officer. It eventually gets to the point where the officer is having to continuously move away from the suspect that is approaching at a quickened pace.
After the suspect begins to continue moving toward the officer, the officer responds with what appears to be a single shot, in which the suspect goes to the ground.
As of now, neither the suspect nor the officer has been identified, but it’s been reported that the suspect remains hospitalized after the shooting.
