After Labor Day, aka the unofficial end of summer, some area beaches are still open to visitors to enjoy lower parking fees, sun and surf. These beaches still have lifeguards on duty:
JONES BEACH STATE PARK, Wantagh Open sunrise to sunset daily. Realtime parking updates will be posted at parks.ny.gov; 516-785-1600.
Lifeguards: 10 a.m.-6 p.m., until Sept. 29; call the park office for specifics on which fields have swimming and what time of day they are open.
Fee: $10 daily until Sept. 20; $8 weekends after Sept. 20 until mid-November
ROBERT MOSES STATE PARK, Babylon Open sunrise to sunset; parks.ny.gov; 631-669-0449.
Lifeguards: 9 a.m.-5 p.m., until Labor Day weekend; call the park office to find out which fields have swimming each day.
Fee: $10 for parking until Sept. 20; $8 weekends after Sept. 20 until mid-November

Lifeguards: 10 a.m.-6 p.m., daily until Sept. 20
Fee: $10 for parking until Sept. 20; then free on weekdays; $8 weekends and holidays until mid-November

Lifeguards: 9 a.m.-5 p.m., on weekends through mid-September
Fee: Beach parking pass required through Sept. 15; free weekends after Sept. 15
