U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn has tested negative for COVID-19 after returning to Colorado from his Washington, D.C., office, where two staff members recently tested positive.

“Out of an abundance of caution, Congressman Lamborn was tested for COVID-19 earlier this week, and the results have come back as negative,” Cassandra Sebastian, said spokesperson for the Colorado Springs congressman, said in a statement Thursday. “His Washington D.C. and District offices will remain closed however, staff will continue telework.”

The Denver Post first reported the D.C. staffers’ positive tests Tuesday, and that the congressman had been attending fundraisers in Colorado while refusing to take a test himself. After that report, Lamborn’s office released a statement that said he did not have symptoms.

Sebastian said Lamborn appreciates the expressions of concern and prayers he has received from well wishers.
