More than 2 million people in Colorado have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, Gov. Jared Polis said in a statement Saturday.
He called the vaccination push the “greatest national effort since World War II,” and urged people who have not yet been vaccinated to continue wearing masks as the state enters a fourth wave of coronavirus infections.
Just over 450 people were hospitalized Friday with confirmed or suspected COVID-19, and health officials are seeing more contagious variants of the virus spreading among people under the age of 50.
Still, the fourth wave is expected to be less severe than the spike Colorado experienced in the fall, officials said.
There are about 5.8 million people in Colorado, so about a third of residents have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
