You can’t blame Ken Jeong for asking. In a new clip exclusively shared with Decider, The Masked Singer judge tries to rally his peers to help him identify the Crab. But Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, and Nicole Scherzinger already know Jeong’s sass too well to lend a hand.
“You know what? We’re a group,” Jeong says, trying to rally his friends. “Maybe I can have help from you guys.”
“Never,” McCarthy fires back.
Jeong eventually gives up and reveals his guess for the Crab: former Boyz II Men member Shawn Stockman. It’s not a horrible guess. Remember the Crab’s first crush was Janet Jackson, so the timing lines up for this one. In the past judges and fans have guessed Lenny Kravitz, Bobby Brown, and Johnny Gill for this crustacean.
It’s a silly exchange for a very silly show. Tonight, April 7, will see Group B returning to The Masked Singer stage. That means Black Swan, Piglet, Crab, and Chameleon are coming back. But host Niecy Nash has yet another surprise up her sleeve. Step aside, Crab. We’re getting another Wildcard entry this episode. One celebrity will be unmasked in “Group B Finals — The Ulti ‘Mutt’ Wildcard!”, leaving the remaining four to move onto the Super Eight.
The herd is thinning and it’s about time. Thanks to the addition of Wildcard contestants, this season has been even more insane than usual. Singers have jumped in mid-show. Kermit was there. Nash possibly had a romance with one of the contestants; it was all very flirty and unclear It’s been an adventure, but we’re close to the real competition.
Next week will see the return of Group A, composed of Orca, Robopine, Russian Dolls, and Seashell. Until then you better enjoy your Group B favorites. Tonight’s episode of The Masked Singer premieres on Fox Wednesday, April 7, at 8/7c p.m. Episodes are available on Hulu the following day.
