Texas has since joined about two dozen states reporting an increase of COVID-19 cases, along with Arizona, California, Florida, North Carolina and others. The number of new positive tests confirmed Thursday in Texas marked another record, nearly 6,000, with more than 4,000 people being admitted to hospitals on the same day, according to the state’s health department.
