Report: Atheist Texas Tech professor says he’d ‘reconsider atheism’ if Trump got coronavirus and died

Report: Atheist Texas Tech professor says he’d ‘reconsider atheism’ if Trump got coronavirus and died 1

Just remember…these people teach our kids, and get paid a ton of money to do it.

A Texas Tech University professor, who gets paid with tax dollars, has been caught wishing that President Trump would die as a result of the coronavirus. Oh, he’s trying to walk it back, but Campus Reform has a copy of his email.

Richard Wigmans a physics professor who “focuses his research on particle physics, astrophysics and cosmology” at the University reportedly sent an email to his colleagues in the physics department with his prognostications about the effects of the coronavirus, and of course his expert opinion on how the president has been handling the pandemic.

Wigmans is referred to on his faculty profile as “the world’s foremost expert on calorimetry” for particle physics experiments.

By the way, this field of “expertise” seemingly has nothing to do with biophysics or anything, but rather the measurement of the amount of heat that is released or absorbed during a chemical reaction.

In a copy of the email obtained by Campus Reform, Wigmans allegedly goes about criticizing how the media is presenting the data, asking why the media doesn’t “present the data in logarithmic form, because that’s how pandemics develop.”

He then allegedly goes on to contrast how South Korea and Italy’s numbers have developed with that of the United States.

He allegedly claims that the rate of increase in coronavirus cases in the United States is “unabated at a rate of twenty-five to thirty percent per day.”

“In that way, we will cross the 10,000 death line by next weekend,” Wigmans said, while suggesting the president is downplaying the situation, while he explains that the coronavirus death toll will equal that of 9/11, the Iraq wars and the Afghanistan wars combined.”

“But hey, the president says that one week later the whole thing will be over, we can all attend packed Easter church services and restart the country.”

Seemingly, this “college professor” has a little bit of difficulty with the English language.

The president said that he “hoped” that the country could restore itself to some degree of normalcy by Easter, but as the situation evolved, he realized that his “desire” for such a result would not happen.

As Dr. Fauci even said, there was nothing wrong with the president expressing hope that things would start to return to normal.

President Trump himself noted that his previous Easter remarks were only “aspirational,” after announcing the federal government would need to extend the current social distance guidelines for another month.

Wigmans then reportedly goes on to give his interpretation of what President Trump meant when he made that statement. Wigmans isn’t a psychic, but we guess he must play one on television.

1). “75% of the deaths are from states that did not vote for me. Why would I do anything for these SOBs?”

2). >80% of the deaths are 65 or older. Good riddance of these moochers who suck on the public tit (Social Security, Medicare).

3). A scared Congress will provide multi-trillion dollar bailout packages that will generously take care of my beloved stock market, and throw in several billions for my family’s businesses.

In summary: The Art of the Deal

Wigmans apparently missed the parts of the stimulus bill that was passed where money went to PBS, the Kennedy Center, and any number of liberal causes that should have made him get aroused.

Wigmans then reportedly ended the email with the following:

“I am personally an atheist, but if #45 would die as a result of this virus I might reconsider….”

Throughout his email, Wigmans didn’t mention Trump by name, instead referring to Trump as “president #45” or “#45.”

Campus Reform noted that they reached out to this far-left individual for comment about his statement, in which Wigmans attempted to deflect;

“This is a statement about myself, not about someone else.”

He confirmed:

“I have distributed some emails to my colleagues in which I provide a scientist’s perspective on the available COVID-19 data, and use the observed trends to make some predictions.”

“I have received many comments from people who appreciate this,” Wigmans added.

When asked about his comments regarding the desire for Trump to die from the virus, Wigmans said:

“I have not expressed such a wish.” Sorry there, Mr. Professor but the email evidence suggests otherwise.

Then, in the ultimate act of deflection Wigmans refers to the “deadly plague” from the Old Testament of the Bible, noting that in that passage “the leadership of the country is specifically targeted.”

“All I wanted to say is that if something similar happened here, I might interpret that as a non-random event, God’s hand if you will,” he told Campus Reform.

Wigmans said that he had received some criticism for his email, saying he “received two critical comments from recipients of [his] message,[but] both people later apologized personally to [him],” telling Campus Reform, “I don’t think I owe you any explanation.”

Of course he doesn’t owe anyone an explanation. He can go ahead and spout his hate-filled tripe, knowing that chances are the left-wing liberal college administration will just look the other way.

The chairman of Young Conservatives of Texas at Texas Tech, Skyler Wachsmann told Campus Reform:

“Implying that the President would enjoy for supporters of political opponents and for the elderly to suffer from this virus is disgusting, as is his comment expressing hope that President Trump would die from the Coronavirus.”

Wachsmann also told Campus Reform that Wigmans’ “words were not only full of hatred and vitriol for the President but also extremely ignorant and inappropriate for an academic setting.

Using this pandemic as an excuse to share his political gripes with colleagues is appalling and puts them in such a very uncomfortable situation.”

Wachsmann added that the professor’s comments are “inconsistent with the values of the Texas Tech community.”

“At Texas Tech, we aim to ‘Strive for Honor,’ but there is nothing honorable about what this professor has said. University President Lawrence Schovanec should take appropriate action by reprimanding this professor.”

In response to a request for comment, Texas Tech told Campus Reform in an emailed statement:

“Professor Wigmans’ personal comments do not represent the views of values of Texas Tech University. This is a personnel matter that will be handled by the department Chair and the Dean of the College.

Texas Tech does not disclose personnel actions relating to any of its employees. We remain focused on the health and wellness of all members of our University community throughout this public health crisis.”

In other words, they seemingly aren’t going to do anything. Such is the way it is on college campuses across the country.

One has to think however that one positive that may come out of this coronavirus pandemic is that people will realize that they do not have to send their students off to incubate in liberal institutions of conservative hate for four years.

This could be a blessing in disguise, at least as far as the future of our kids is concerned.
