player tests positive for COVID-19 1

Major League Soccer postponed the Colorado Rapids’ scheduled home match against the L.A. Galaxy on Saturday, after another player tested positive for COVID-19.

The announcement marks the fourth straight Rapids match that has been postponed, with the club seeing five players and 12 staffers test positive for the virus since late September.

The team’s last match came more than two weeks ago, when the Rapids beat San Jose 5-0 on Sept. 23. Matches against Portland, Kansas City and LAFC have all been postponed since due to the outbreak.

No reschedule date was announced for Saturday’s match. The Rapids were already out of open dates prior to Decision Day on Nov. 8, when Wednesday night’s scheduled meeting with LAFC was called off. The team will either have to play more than three matches in a week or MLS could change how it evaluates its division standings.
