“You blow your overtime budget, you’re going to be held accountable,” Lightfoot said. “But when you grew up in an environment where you’re going to have Memorial Day weekend, let’s just cancel days off and throw some overtime at it, that’s not strategy at all and it’s demoralizing for the rank and file when, particularly as tough and as stressful as this time is, they deserve their time off.”
