At least five people have been wounded in a shooting in Shreveport, Louisiana on Sunday evening, authorities said.

Police were responding to reports of a traffic congestion on Hearne Avenue shortly after 9 p.m. on Sunday when the gunfire erupted, a Shreveport police spokesman told reporters.

“We responded this evening to a traffic congestion and during that congestion, numerous shots were fired,” the spokesman said.

The spokesman added that lots of gunshot victims from the shooting were showing up at various area hospitals.

KSLA reported that at least five victims have arrived at Ochsners LSU Health and other hospitals for treatment in connection to the shooting. It was not immediately clear how serious their injuries were.

“We have detectives at hospitals trying to get all this pieced together,” the police spokesman added.
