State officials are reporting 92 new coronavirus cases among students and 68 new cases among staff at public school districts across Massachusetts.
The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education released its weekly report Thursday on COVID-19 in schools, which only reflects confirmed coronavirus cases reported by districts to state officials between Oct. 8 and Oct. 14. It is the third week the state has released the data, and the new report brings the combined total of cases among students to 259 and for staff to 160.
The numbers reflect cases reported at charter schools, approved special education schools, and collaboratives, but they exclude any COVID-19 diagnoses for students only enrolled in remote learning. They also exclude positive cases for staff members who had “not been in district buildings during the seven days prior to the report of the positive case.”
According to the state, the districts reporting more than a few cases include Boston (6 among staff), Lawrence (14 among staff), and Marlborough (10 among students, 2 among staff).
